Uttar Pradesh Police has tightened the noose on Haji Yakub Qureshi, a former minister and his family in the case of packaging and processing meat without permission under the banner of Al Faheem Meatex Pvt Ltd.
As reported here, Qureshi and his family have been absconding and haven’t applied for bail for the fear of being booked under the Gangster Act.
The police have been unable to take foolproof action against the accused due to legal hiccups. A Gangster case can be registered by the police only once the accused persons apply for bail in the court.
Consequently, Qureshi has only pleaded that he has nothing to do with the meat factory and had no involvement in its operations as well. The accused have refrained from applying for the bail.
Earlier the UP Police had registered a case against Haji Yakub Qureshi and 14 others including his relatives. Now, the names of three more persons have been added to the case.
As per this report, only two accused have been arrested. While Qureshi and his family were initially hiding in Delhi, they absconded to Dehradun once the Police reached Delhi and camped there.
Meanwhile, police have gathered evidence and prepared a dossier to be produced in the court against Qureshi's application.
Reportedly, a team is also on the way to Dehradun to nab Qureshi and his relatives who are believed to be hiding at a resort there.
