Aditya-L1: Here's When India's Solar Probe Is Expected To Enter Orbit Around L1

S Somanath, the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), said Saturday (25 November) in Thiruvananthapuram that they anticipate the Aditya-L1 solar probe to reach the orbit around the Lagrange point 1 (L1) by 7 January.

During the sixtieth anniversary celebrations of the inaugural rocket launch from Thumba, Somanath revealed that the Aditya-L1 mission is approaching the final stage of its extensive journey to the L1 point.

“The current date for entering into orbit around L1 is January 7,” he added.

ISRO intends to place Aditya-L1 in a halo orbit around L1, one of the five equilibrium "Lagrange" points within the Sun-Earth system.

Located approximately 15 lakh kilometres from Earth, between our planet and the Sun, this strategic point in space has been chosen for conducting Sun-centred research using Aditya-L1's seven scientific instruments.

The Aditya-L1 mission was launched by ISRO using the PSLV-C57 on 2 September.
