Jammu And Kashmir: Security Forces Seize Large Caches Of Arms And Ammunition Including IEDs In Poonch Raids

The Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and the Indian Army in a combined operation have recovered a large cache of IEDs and explosives in a suspected hideout in Mendhar, Poonch district.

A suspicious hideout was found in Lower Kasbalari area of Mendhar by army and police working together, said a police officer.

The officer reported that they destroyed the suspected IED and other explosives in front of the village sarpanch and numberdar.

J-K Police and Special Operations Group searched suspected hideout locations in Burzalla forest area, according to Ramban police during a search operation.

"During a search operation the police busted a militant hideout, and ammunition among other things were recovered from the spot," police said.

"Two rifle grenades, one UBGL thrower, one wireless with an antenna without battery, two IED type with wire, one detonator type with wire, 17 AK47 cartilage, seven 9mm cartilage, one glass bottle having glycerine type liquid, one khaki jacket and one black leather shoe were recovered," the police added.

"A case under sections of the Explosive Substance Act has been registered at the Banihal police station," the police further said.
