J&K: Three LeT Terrorists Including Two From Pakistan Gunned Down By Security Forces In Separate Encounters

Three Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists including two Pakistani nationals have been killed in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir within last 24 hours.

Two LeT terrorists, including one from Pakistan, were killed in an encounter with security forces in the Kupwara district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday (7 June), police said.

Based on information about the presence of militants in the Chaktaras Kandi area of Kupwara, security forces launched a cordon and search operation, a police official said.

The search operation turned into an encounter after the militants fired upon the security forces who retaliated, he said.

In the exchange of fire, two terrorists were killed, the official said.

The slain Pakistani terrorist has been identified as Tufail, the police said.

'Two terrorists of proscribed terror outfit LeT, including one Pakistani terrorist namely Tufail, killed. Search still going on,' Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said in a tweet.

Earlier on Monday (6 June), a Pakistani terrorist, belonging to the terror outfit LeT, was gunned down by security forces in an encounter at Panipora forest of Zaloora area in J&K's Sopore district.

The police said that as per the documents recovered from the slain Pakistani terrorist in Sopore encounter, he has been identified as Hanzalla, hailing from Pakistan's Lahore.

The security forces also recovered one AK rifle, five magazines along with ammunition at the encounter site.
