Security Forces Launch Another Operation In J&K's Kulgam District As Hunt For Terrorists In Rajouri Forest Enters Third Day

An encounter broke between the security forces comprising Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and terrorists in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K).

The Kashmir Zone Police posted on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter), stating that the encounter started in the Kujjar area of Kulgam district of J&K.

This encounter comes just days after Kulgam Police busted two terror modules and arrested five hybrid terrorists associated with Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The arrested individuals were identified as Aadil Hussain Wani, Suhail Ahmad Dar, Aitmad Ahmad Laway, Mehraj Ahmad Lone, and Sabzar Ahmad Khaar.

Significant amounts of arms and ammunition were recovered from these terrorists, including two pistols, three hand grenades, one Under Barrel Grenade Launcher (UBGL), two pistol magazines, 12 pistol rounds, and 21 AK-47 rounds.

Meanwhile, the search operation to track down terrorists in the forested Kalakote area around Rajouri has entered its third day.

The operation started two days ago, on Monday (2 October), when security forces initiated a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Broh and Soom forest belts of the Kalakote area.

The terrorists tried to break the cordon and fired on the security forces.

In the ensued firing two Indian Army personnel were injured and were taken to the hospital, where their condition is reported to be stable.

According to reports, two terrorists are trapped in the cordon.
