Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will attend the final match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s World Cup 2023 at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
According to an official statement by the Gujarat Government, Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel held a high level meeting in Gandhinagar on Friday to oversee security and and other arrangements for the match.
"Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Australian Deputy Prime Minister Richard Marles will attend the match on Sunday. Chief Minister Patel reviewed security and other arrangements with top officials," the release said.
Furthermore, the release said that police officials briefed the Chief Minister on the comprehensive plans for the smooth conduct of the match, including the deployment of 4,500 personnel to provide security to the ground, teams, VIPs and to take care of traffic management.
The Chief Minister instructed officials to ensure common people do not suffer due to VIP movement and asked them to provide proper information about closed roads and diversions to people in advance, the release said.
Additionally, the Chief Minister asked an increase in the number of metro train services to Motera station, close to the stadium, to accommodate the influx of fans coming from various parts of India and overseas.
The Indian cricket team arrived in the city on Thursday evening, followed by the Australian team, who arrived on Friday.
On Friday, the Indian team conducted a practice session at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The Indian Air Force's renowned Surya Kiran aerobatics team is scheduled to put up an air show ahead of the game on Sunday.
