A BJP official has revealed that the Cabinet of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is expected to undergo its first expansion on Monday (25 December), with 28 ministers set to be sworn in, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

This move comes shortly after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) implemented a generational shift by appointing Yadav as the state's chief minister.

The new Cabinet is anticipated to feature a mix of fresh faces and seasoned leaders, including members of Parliament who successfully contested the state assembly elections.

Some ministers from the previous government may also be included in the expansion.

Prior to the expansion, Yadav submitted the list of ministers to be inducted to Governor Mangubhai Patel.

The swearing-in ceremony was scheduled to take place at 3.30 pm.

The BJP recently reclaimed power in Madhya Pradesh, securing 163 out of 230 seats in the assembly elections, while the Congress won 66 seats.

Yadav, aged 58, assumed office along with his deputies, Jagdish Deoda and Rajendra Shukla, on 13 December, succeeding Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who held the position for 16 of the last 18 years over four terms.

Known for his strong advocacy of Hindu politics, Yadav gained attention last week for expressing his intention to shift the Prime Meridian from Greenwich, England, to Ujjain in Madhya Pradesh.

He also criticised Westernisation for negatively impacting the world and pledged to collaborate with scientific minds to rectify this perceived "rot".
