Police reported that the body of an 18-year-old Dalit woman, who was gang-raped and subjected to an acid attack, was discovered in a well in Rajasthan's Karauli district on Thursday (13 July).
According to Nadauti SHO Babu Lal, the woman, a resident of Mohanpura in the Todabhim area, went missing on Wednesday. Her family members lodged a complaint stating that she had been kidnapped and later murdered.
It is believed that the acid was used to hide the girl's identity. Police sent the body to Hindon government hospital for post-mortem after taking it out from the well.
Opposition BJP leaders, including MP Kirodi Lal Meena, along with the woman's family members, staged a sit-in protest outside the hospital.
The family members have demanded the immediate arrest of the perpetrator and requested compensation of ₹50 lakh along with a government job.
During a press interaction, BJP leader Meena alleged that despite such a heinous crime, the police is careless in the case.
He said that police should have called the FSL team at the site where the dead body was found, but instead, police sent it to a sub-health centre.
