Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan made several announcements in the Ladli Behan Sammelan in Bhopal on Sunday (27 August).

An amount of Rs 250 was transferred to the accounts of the state's 1.25 crore women with a single click as a Raksha Bandhan gift, while Rs 1,000 will be deposited on 10 September.

The Chief Minister announced that from October, Rs 1,250 will be deposited into their accounts. Rs 1,000 are already being transferred since June under Ladli Behan Yojana.

The amount has been increased to Rs 1,250 and Chouhan stated that as the system progresses, the amount will be further increased to Rs 1,500, then Rs 1,750, Rs 2,000, Rs 2,250, Ra 2,500, Rs 2,750, and finally Rs 3,000.

In this month of Sawan, women will receive a gas cylinder for Rs 450. Chouhan further said that efforts will also be made to provide a gas cylinder every month for Rs 450.

The Chief Minister said, "No matter the caste or religion, whether they are Hindu or Muslim, all are my sisters, and all are receiving equal benefits from the schemes. Ensuring the safety and respect of sisters is of utmost importance to Brother Shivraj, and a law has been enacted to punish those who misbehave with sisters. My goal is to make sisters lakhpatis."

The other announcements are that

  • If 50 per cent of women desire, liquor shops will be closed.

  • 35 per cent reservation will be given to women in police recruitment.

  • 50 per cent women reservation in teacher recruitment.

  • 35 per cent reservation, raised from 30 per cent, will be given to women in all government recruitments.

  • The government will pay the full fees for the education of girls.

  • They will receive loans from banks, and the government will pay the interest.

  • Land will be reserved for women in the industrial sector.

  • Aggressive collection of high electricity bills will be stopped; bills will be zero.

  • Only Rs 100 electricity bill will be charged in September.

  • Wherever there is a colony of 20 houses, electricity will be made available. For this, provision of Rs 900 crore rupees have been made.

Elections will be held later this year in the state and in at least 18 out of the 230 Assembly constituencies, women voters surpass their male counterparts.
