Mallu Bhatti Vikaramarka is set to be sworn in as Deputy Chief Minister of Telangana on Thursday (7 December) while the Congress announced A Revanth Reddy as its Chief Minister-designate.

Along with the CM and his deputy, ten ministers, including N Uttam Kumar Reddy, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, Dasari Anasuya, Damodar Raja Narasimha, D Sridhar Babu, Thummala Nageshwara Rao, Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy, Konda Surekha, and Jupally Krishna Rao, will also take their oaths, administered by Governor Dr Tamilisai Soundararajan.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka triumphed in the recent Telangana elections by securing a lead of 35,452 votes in the Madhira Assembly constituency of Khammam district.

Following the election result on 3 December, where the Congress party secured a majority in Telangana with 64 seats, rumors circulated that Bhatti was a contender for the Chief Minister position, alongside Uttam Kumar who apparently strived until the final moments to secure the role.

Bhatti has served as the representative for the Madhira Assembly constituency in four consecutive terms. He secured victories in the Legislative Assembly elections of 2009, 2014, 2018, and most recently in 2023. In addition to his assembly roles, he was elected as a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC) from the Khammam district in 2007.

Furthermore, Bhatti assumed the position of Chief Whip for the Andhra Pradesh government, actively contributing to legislative affairs between 2009 and 2011. Later, he demonstrated his leadership capabilities by serving as the Deputy Speaker of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 2011 to 2014.
