Speaking to reporters after the conclusion of the meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) state level officebearers and district presidents, state president K Annamalai said that the Lok Sabha election in 2024 is a clash between the BJP, which is in power at the centre and the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), which is ruling the state.
Regarding the issue of alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), he said that the national leadership would take a decision on it.
He added that his only aim is to grow the party in Tamil Nadu.
Regarding his padayatra En Mann En Makkal, Annamalai said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would attend it during the closing ceremony in January.
The resumption of the padayatra has been postponed to 16 October due to Annamalai being unwell. He was provisionally diagnosed with "Lower Respiratory Tract Infection of Viral etiology with bronchospasm" and advised rest for recovery.
Among the other important announcements include the formation of committees for all 39 Parliamentary constituencies in the state.
