During his visit to Coimbatore for the 11th Asian Textiles Conference, Union Minister Piyush Goyal said that some of the Dravidian parties were trying to divide India and said that people of the state would support the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to remove the "corrupt" Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government led by Chief Minister MK Stalin.
Speaking about BJP state president K Annamalai, he said, "All of us are proud of our young and dynamic leader Annamalai Ji for the yatra connecting the people of Tamil Nadu, bringing everybody together. En Mann En Makkal has today gone into the hearts of every Tamil brother and sister. Annamalai Ji is a person who wants to bring Tamil Nadu on the world map. He is a young dynamic leader who wishes to see the people of Tamil Nadu prosper, grow, along with the rest of India as one. Our G20 presidency talks of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, the world is one family. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given the theme "One Earth. One Family. One Future."
"Sadly some of the Dravidian parties are trying to divide the people of India. Whether it is on the lines of language or on every different occasion they are misleading our young minds our young boys and girls and brothers and sisters and Mr Annamalai is taking the message of oneness to the nook and corner of Tamil Nadu.
"We have no doubt in out mind that the people of Tamil Nadu will stand with PM Narendra Modi, will stand with Annamalai ji, will protect Tamil Nadu and India, will work for the development, prosperity and corruption- free Tamil Nadu and in that we seek the support of all the people of Tamil Nadu to throw out this corrupt government led by Thiru Stalin; this corrupt government, this corrupt thinking and ensure that in the future Tamil Nadu once again regains the pride of place not only in India but in the world."
Goyal's remarks come on the day when Chief Minister Stalin announced the launch of his podcast called 'Speaking for India', in which he would speak about saving India from the BJP and fulfilling goals such as egalitarianism, social justice and fraternity. The podcast would be translated into English and other regional languages.
