Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who recently bought Twitter for $44 billion, on Monday (7 November) urged the "likeminded" independent voters to vote for the Republican party in the US mid-term elections.
Musk's statement came on the eve of the US mid term elections set to be held today (8 November).
Musk said that he recommended that independent minded voters like him vote for a Republican Congress to counterbalance the Presidency held by the Democratic Party.
"To independent-minded voters: Shared power curbs the worst excesses of both parties, therefore I recommend voting for a Republican Congress, given that the Presidency is Democratic," Musk said in a tweet.
"Hardcore Democrats or Republicans never vote for the other side, so independent voters are the ones who actually decide who’s in charge!," he added.

Musk, however, made it clear that his "historical" party affiliation has been "Independent".
"To be clear, my historical party affiliation has been Independent, with an actual voting history of entirely Democrat until this year," he said.
And Iâm open to the idea of voting Democrat again in the future
