700 Indian Students Face Deportation As Canadian Authorities Crack The Whip On Fake Admission Offers

Canada is deporting over 700 Indian students for presenting fake admission offer letters.

The students were given deportation letters from the Canadian Border Security Agency, leaving them facing the possibility of being removed from the country.

Around 700 students seeking study visas had applied through Education Migration Services, led by Brijesh Mishra in Jalandhar as per media reports.

Each student was charged over Rs 16 lakh for all expenses, including admission fee to Humber College, with air tickets and security deposits being excluded.

In 2018-19, a group of students went to Canada for studying purposes. Recently, when they applied for permanent residency (PR), their admission offer letters were scrutinized and found to be fake by CBSA.

This uncovered the fraud committed by the students while obtaining their visas.

Students completed studies, obtained work permits and experience before encountering trouble while applying for PR, as reported by the Indian Express.

Canada saw a unique case of education fraud, likely due to the high number of applicants. This is the first such case in the country, according to experts.

According to the report, many students who applied to study at certain colleges in Canada were later given offer letters for different institutions after arriving. Some were even forced to wait for the next semester instead of the one originally promised in their application.

Further, their report states that the agent conducted the fraud intelligently by avoiding signing any applications and getting students to sign as self-applicants, making it challenging to prove his involvement.

This also makes it hard to prove the students' innocence, though they maintain that all students are innocent.
