After World Cup Debacle, Pakistan Cricket Plunges Into Chaos As Foreign Coaching Staff Faces The Axe

Amid speculations surrounding the future of Pakistan's captain Babar Azam, reports reveal a potential shake-up in the Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) coaching staff.

The entire group of foreign support staff, including head coach Grant Bradburn, team director Mickey Arthur, and batting coach Andrew Puttick, is reportedly on the verge of being sacked, as per reports by Hindustan Times.

The decision comes in the aftermath of Pakistan's disappointing performance in the World Cup 2023 held in India.

According to Samaa TV, PCB chief Zaka Ashraf is set to convene an emergency meeting with former captain Younis Khan on Tuesday (14 November) to finalise and announce the decision.

The move is prompted by a thorough review of Pakistan's lackluster World Cup campaign, where they failed to secure a spot in the semi-finals, finishing fifth in the points table with eight points.

This marks the second consecutive ODI World Cup in which Pakistan has fallen short of advancing beyond the group stages.

The recent setbacks extend to the Asia Cup as well, where Pakistan, once the top-ranked ODI team, failed to reach the finals.

The underwhelming performance in these crucial tournaments is believed to be the catalyst for the impending changes in Pakistan's cricket leadership.

Notably, this development follows the resignation of Pakistan's bowling coach, Morne Morkel, and comes at a time when uncertainty surrounds Babar Azam's captaincy.
