Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has once again found himself at the center of controversy, this time, for engaging in discussions about India with various international leaders.
This latest incident only adds to the growing list of controversies that have surrounded his tenure, further intensifying the criticism he faces.
According to a statement from Trudeau's office, he held talks with King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan, where he provided an update on the state of affairs between Canada and India, as reported by NDTV.
The statement underscored the importance of upholding the rule of law and respecting the Vienna Convention on diplomatic relations.
In a separate conversation, Trudeau discussed India and the principle of the "rule of law" with UAE President Mohamed Bin Zayed.
On social networking platform, Trudeau expressed his deep concern for the ongoing situation in Israel and the imperative of safeguarding civilian lives. He also emphasised the significance of upholding and respecting the rule of law in India.
However, the reactions on social media to Trudeau's discussions concerning India were predominantly negative and tinged with humour.
Many users took issue with what appeared to be his "complaints" about India. Memes mocking his statements circulated on social media, contributing to the criticism he continues to face.
Trudeau had faced substantial criticism in recent times for a video in which he stuck out his tongue and winked at the House speaker.
Another significant controversy emerged when the Canadian Parliament gave a standing ovation to a Ukrainian World War II veteran who had fought alongside the Nazis.
In response to this incident, Trudeau expressed his dismay, stating, "It was a horrendous violation of the memory of the millions of people who died in the Holocaust, and was deeply, deeply painful for Jewish people."
