  • The truth is, demography is destiny.
  • All lessons on cooperative coexistence are hollow beyond a point, when the population in a geography starts transitioning rapidly.
  • On multiple occasions, US President Joe Biden has encouraged a 'constant, unrelenting stream of immigrants' into the United States of America.

"Not dribbling," Biden said. "Significant flows." He described both legal and illegal immigrants as a blessing for America. Clearly, prospective immigrants were listening. His words were taken as the gospel, and immigrants have continued to flood the southern border of the US.

As these immigrants settled in American cities and suburbs, the societies underwent a change. Once settled, they invited their friends and families from Latin America.

The coyotes – those who smuggle humans across the border – utilised this stream of immigrants for smuggling drugs. Moreover, after charging anxious parents heavily, unaccompanied kids were and continue to be sold off as bonded labour, slaves and even into prostitution.

This human disaster was taking place for decades, and nobody bothered.

Economic problems, environmental disasters, gang wars and violence in Honduras, Guatemala, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Cuba and other Latin nations worsened during the pandemic, forcing some to take a long and perilous journey north into the US.

US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has encountered almost two million migrants at the southwest border since the start of Biden's presidential term, a number that has been growing steadily.

Border Patrol estimates that hundreds of thousands enter the country with no interception whatsoever. Illegal immigration has been ramping up throughout much of Biden's term, with 21-year records being broken in mid-2022.

The border states were left to fend for themselves against illegal immigration despite border protection being the job of the federal government - the Biden administration.

In Texas, border communities with a population of 15,000 or 20,000 see 2,000 to 3,000 immigrants crossing every day.

"In any one sector in the State of Texas, we have more than 5,000 people coming into that sector every single day," said Governor Greg Abbott of Texas. "Our communities are overrun."

    The Pushback

A few months back, the Republicans decided to give the democrats living in posh communities a taste of their own medicine. Texas Governor Greg Abbott launched Operation Lone Star.

The Department of Public Safety (DPS) was directed to "...enforce all applicable federal and state laws to prevent the criminal activity along the border, including criminal trespassing, smuggling, and human trafficking."

According to the governor's website, "Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to more than 290,700 migrant apprehensions and more than 18,000 criminal arrests, with more than 15,400 felony charges reported. In the fight against fentanyl, DPS has seized over 325.9 million lethal doses throughout the state.

Texas has also transported over 6,500 migrants to the nation's capital--and now New York City."

Abbott sent two buses of migrants to Vice President Kamala Harris' residence in Washington DC "VP Harris claims our border is 'secure' and denies the crisis.

We're sending migrants to her backyard to call on the Biden Administration to do its job & secure the border," Abbott tweeted.

Texas wasn't alone. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis sent 50 migrants on a chartered flight to Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts - a liberal haven.

Guess what happened next? The US military was called in, and these 50 migrants were taken to a military base.

Why New York, Massachusetts and Washington?

Because the Democrats were sitting pretty in these mega-cities and safe enclaves and preaching to the residents in border areas about tolerance, compassion and humanity. New York Mayor Eric Adams termed his city 'the sanctuary city' and welcomed immigrants of all sorts.

But his delight turned to horror when buses full of immigrants started coming to his city. Within days, he appealed to the Biden administration to solve his problem. "We are going to continue to be open arms, this is who we are as a city, we just need help from the federal government," Adams said.

This whole saga of 'an unrelenting stream of immigrants' is reportedly part of the Democrats' plan to change the demography of Republican voting geographies by filling them up with people driven by values incompatible with the American ones.

Naturally, the original residents of such communities would oppose such resettlement plans.

The resulting conflict would then be utilised by the Democratic party to consolidate the undocumented immigrants as a voting bloc, thus resulting in electoral victories for the party years later.

    Lessons for India

When the 'intellectuals' with a clear leftist ideological tilt lecture India about humanity, India would do well to look at their record in dealing with the issue.

It's easy to lecture the poor and the middle class about making their peace with a rapidly changing demography, when you're sitting comfortably in a gated colony.

As reported in Swarajya earlier, of the 33 districts in Assam, immigrants have become a majority in as many as 13 districts and form over a third of the population in five other districts. Reports emerged of enclaves in Jharkhand forcing the local Hindus to be Sharia compliant.

The truth is, demography is destiny. All lessons on cooperative coexistence are hollow beyond a point, when the population in a geography starts transitioning rapidly.

The axiom is just as true for India as it is for the USA.
