Pakistan: Lahore Police Obtains Warrants To Search Imran Khan's Zaman Park Residence, While Pak Army Chief Calls 9 May Violence 'Planned And Orchestrated'

The Lahore Police has obtained warrants to search the Zaman Park resident of the former Pakistan Prime Minister, Imran Khan, to allegedly arrest the 30-40 terrorits hiding inside Khan's house.

This comes a day after the expiration of an ultimatum issued by the caretaker government of Punjab to hand over 30-40 terrorists hiding inside Khan's Zaman park residence.

These terrorists, Pakistan agencies claim were involved in the violence on May 9 that killed 25 civilians, following the arrest of Khan from the Islamabad High Court. Punjab Province's caretaker Information Minister, Amir Mir, claims that the terrorists are wanted in the attack on the Corps Commander's House in Lahore on 9 May.

Earlier, on 16 May, top military Corps Commanders has decided to bring to justice, the arsonists that have attacked military and civilian infrastructure.

The Corps Commanders have also agreed to use Pakistan Army Act and Official Secrets Act against the rioters.

Meanwhile, various lawmakers of have started to leave Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaaf (PTI), Khan's political party, after pressure from the Army. Senior leaders have started to jump ship and desert Imran Khan, the latest being Ex-Khyber Pakhtunkhwa minister Muhammad Iqbal Wazir.

The leaders are condemning the violence that happened on May 9 and blaming Imran Khan for it.

The Pakistan Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Asim Munir, on the other hand, has condemned the violence of May 9 and said that "the violence was planned and orchestrated".

He further says that the violence on the military installations would never be allowed to repeat at any cost.

"No one will be allowed to disrespect our martyrs and their monuments. They are a source of inspiration and pride for the rank and file of the Armed Forces, Law Enforcement Agencies, Government officials and the people of Pakistan," Gen Munir said.
