A group of Khalistani radicals prevented Indian high commissioner to the UK Vikram Doraiswami from entering a gurdwara in Scotland on Friday (29 September).

According to reports, Indian high commissioner in the UK had a meeting scheduled with the gurdwara committee of the Glasgow Gurdwara on Albert Drive.

A Times of India report cited a pro-Khalistan radical as saying that there was a 'slight confrontation' at the scene.

“We are fed up with the UK-India collusion. The recent tensions since the Hardeep Singh Nijjar killing have led to British Sikhs being targeted," the Khalistani radical added.

The Indian High Commissioner, instead of getting into an argument with the Khalistani radicals, decided to leave, news agency ANI reported citing sources.

Indian High Commission officials have reportedly raised the issue with the UK foreign office and also the police.

It should be noted that threats were issued against Indian diplomats in the United Kingdom in July by pro-Khalistan elements with pictures including the High Commissioner of India to UK Vikram Doraiswami.

Earlier in May, security barricades and vehicles were removed from outside the British High Commission and High Commissioner residence in New Delhi in response to the lack of security at Indian High Commission in London, UK where Indian flag was removed by Khalistani radicals.
